No family staycation at Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore is complete without dinner at Princess Terrace. Authentic Penang buffet since the 1970s — here is why we keep coming back.

在Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore的家庭亲子住宿,少不了在Princess Terrace享用一顿丰盛的槟城美食。自1970年代起传承至今的地道槟城风味——这就是我们常常都回来的原因。

Princess Terrace has been serving authentic Penang flavours since the early 1970s. It has been a family favourite for years. We have been here for family gatherings, casual dinners and now as part of our staycation. And honestly — having it right here in the hotel is the most convenient thing ever. No need to go anywhere, just head downstairs and dinner is sorted.

The dining space is relaxed, welcoming and especially family-friendly. As parents of three young boys, we know dining out can sometimes feel stressful, but not here. There was no need to worry about the kids getting a little chatty or excited. The cosy setting made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived, allowing us to simply enjoy the meal and spend quality time together as a family.

Live BBQ Seafood Station — The Star of the Show 🔥

We finally tried the live BBQ seafood station for the first time this visit — and honestly, we wished we had done it sooner. Freshly grilled scallops, chicken wings and crayfish with that beautiful smoky charred flavour that you simply cannot replicate at home. The scallops were fresh and juicy. The chicken wings had a gorgeous char. We went back more than once — and I regret nothing. 😂 We also had the grilled oysters — so yummy and fresh! Just a heads up that it is not unlimited, you only get one serving so make sure you enjoy it slowly. 🦪

The Penang Spread — Our Must Tries 🍜

Where do I even begin? 😄 The spread at Princess Terrace is extensive and every dish is carefully prepared to capture that authentic Penang flavour. Here are the ones we keep going back to:

Penang Laksa and Prawn Noodles — two dishes we never skip on every visit. The Penang laksa broth is rich, tangy and deeply flavoured with generous toppings. The prawn noodles? Comforting, satisfying and full of that good kick of spice. Then there is the Durian Bang Chang Kueh — freshly made right in front of you and absolutely delicious. 🤤 Crispy thin pancake with a generous durian filling. Watch it being made fresh — the aroma alone will pull you in! Tasting Tip: Grab it while it is still hot for that perfect crispy texture. It softens quickly so don’t wait too long! And of course — the Kueh Pie Tee. The kids’ absolute favourite and honestly ours too. 🏆 Crispy pastry cups filled with savoury turnip filling, topped with fresh prawns and a drizzle of chilli. The boys kept going back for more and I did not stop them. Not even a little bit. 😄Beyond these, the spread also features a wide variety of Penang classics — nasi lemak, Nyonya kueh, an impressive dessert spread and so much more. Something for everyone, every single time.

Honestly, I wasn’t sure how the boys would take to a Penang buffet — but this was one of those unexpected pleasant surprises. 😄The atmosphere is casual and laid back. The variety of the spread means even the pickiest eaters will find something they love — and my boys? They ate more than they ever have that evening. More than I have ever seen them eat at any buffet. Ever. 😂 No “I don’t want this”, no negotiations, no convincing required. Just happy kids, full plates and very happy parents.

At the end of the night, the boys were full, happy and asking when we could come back. Honestly? Same. 😄 Princess Terrace never fails to deliver — and that is exactly why it has been a family favourite for years. See you again soon. 🦐🤍

P.S. We had the most wonderful 3 days 2 nights family staycation at Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore too — read all about it here.
