Gaia. It was a birthday celebration for my father. I was thinking where to take my family out to dinner. Buffet..Japanese..Korean…Tough choice when they always love somewhere new and good. I decided to pick korean as its been long since we had one together. Now the issue is where… Mr Google is always helpful. I saw Gaia. I like what they says on their site about them. They promise healthy food that is similar to what you can get in a Korean’s home. Gaia is the one to try. Bear in mind to go early if you are driving. Finding parking lots at the Holland Village can be a nightmare unless you are in luck.
Ambience
It is a small establishment with indoor and outdoor. We were lucky to be seated inside a small private section. It gives a nice exclusive feeling to it. The decor is modern and it does seem a bit cramp.
Service
Their service staff is pretty friendly but they do look a bit short handed. Perhaps cos it was peak hour. We were seated in a nice private section. However, it make it hard for us to catch the service staff attention. Thought it will be nice if they try to check out the section once in a while or install the usual bell system in korean restaurants.
Food
We had the following:
~Side Dishes~
The side dishes were quite small portion for 4 of us (E.g. 3 slice of lotus root for 4 pax). I thought they should be more generous on that to ensure a good individual portion on each pax.
~Ginseng Chicken Soup (Samgyetang)~
It is light and refreshing. It does make me feel healthy.
~Seafood Pancake~
Seafood pancake with spring onion and chilli. It is not really the crispy type. I still like it. I always love korean pancake. I remove the chilli though but I like them being generous on the spring onions.
~Rice Cakes~
I love Korean Rice Cakes but theirs a bit too chewy. It is still good though. It is not very flavourful but I think they did it purposely to make it more healthy.
~BBQ Meat~
BBQ! My Favourite! We ordered a combination platter of short rib meat, pork belly and marinated chicken. I like this combi. It goes well with the sauce and the vegetable were also crispy fresh. Yummy!
