Australia – Perth & Surrounds Aug 2015 (10 Days 9 Nights) Part 1 of 4

Day 1 to 3. Perth & Surrounds. Finally I get around to write this post. I have always been skeptical to go Perth. I always hear a lot of friends says Perth is boring. However, this round I wanted to have a slow and scenic holiday. With Singapore Airlines promotion, I thought this is a good opportunity to give it a try. After we land in Perth Airport, we drove straight out to Fremantle and stayed for 2 night before continuing our journey to explore the surrounds.

~Day 1~

We took a midnight flight from Singapore to Perth. Landed in Perth at about 5+am. We went to get Sim Card. It is always important to me that there is data connection when travelling especially for road trips. After getting some light breakfast, we make our way to Bayswater Car Rental to collect our car.

Quick Review:	We took a taxi to Bayswater Car Rental. We kinda of regret as their car rental is not 24 hours and not located at the airport. It is also not really much cheaper especially if you are coming from the International Airport. Might be not worth all these inconvenience. The car was spacious, new and clean. They have stick stickers that the car is from their rental company. Easily recognised. Not sure a good thing a not as people would most likely know that we are most likely tourist. May not be very safe.

Quick Review:	Small Lovely market with good variety of shops which sell Food, Fruits, Coffee, Cheese. Nice little place for shopping.

After having a light lunch, we are off to check out our Airbnb Accommodation.

Quick Review:	Clean Cozy Home. Very accessible to cafes, supermarkets and some of fremantle attractions. However, it is a bit tired in some areas. It was the first time I booked accommodation with AirBnB. I have heard a lot of rave on booking with AirBnB. I thought it was quite inconvenient for me. A lot of time I have to arrange the timing to pick up the keys. Unlike some hotels which have 24 hour reception. I had to leave the keys in the house. It is also tricky as we have to open the gate with the key to drive out the car. AirBnB is my last resort to find accommodation.

After having a good afternoon nap, we are off to explore Fremantle…

Quick Review:	Interesting Building. We are so lucky to see a rainbow while we were at the Roundhouse. There is a lot of history here. Good for people who are interested in learning the past. They have volunteer Guides from 10.30am to 3.30pm to provide visitors with additional information to supplement the display boards. Worthy of a visit.

Quick Review:	It is a self-service restaurant. You can pick your drinks, sauce and sides from their fridge and make your order. We had Salt and Pepper Squid, Fish and Chips and Grilled Prawns. Love them all! Very Fresh. Salt and Pepper squid was opaque but not overcooked. It is still very tender. Delicious Fried Fish. Crispy on the outside. Fresh and Tender on the inside.

Had an awesome dinner … Time for drinks

Quick Review:	Lovely place to chill! They brew their own beer. They also serve a good variety of food to go with their beer. They have their own wood fired oven! Unfortunately, I was too full to order their food. It was a cold raining night but the whole place was still bustling with life and excitement.

~Day 2~

Yawnz.. Woke up to a new day! I am going to look for a cafe at Cappuccino Strip for a good breakfast.

Quick Review:	As I passed by this cafe, it is very crowded with people having breakfast and reading newspaper. Feel like so chill. After walking down the Cappuccino Strip, I decided to U-Turn and try Gino’s Cafe. We ordered Cappuccino, Egg Benedict and Gino’s Special Breakfast. What a sumptuous breakfast!

We continue to explore Fremantle. I enjoy just walk around and enjoy the slow place of life in Fremantle. Lovely Scenery. We went woolsworth to shop for some fruits and snacks. Love shopping in Australia’s supermarket. The fruits and vegetables look super fresh and delicious. Walk by the beach and caught a beautiful orange sunset over the sea waves.

After a great walk in Fremantle, it is time for dinner! Yum Yum… Fish and Chips Here I come.

Quick Review:	It was very crowded inside the cafe. We were lucky to be able to get a seat. We ordered fresh oysters, fish and chips, prawns and ice cream. The ice cream flavor is so unique. It is Fish and Chips flavor! I can’t decide Kailis’ or Cicerellos is better. I would recommend you to try both and decide for yourself. If I really need to pick only 1 to go for, I will go for Cicerellos.

After a long day, proceed back and have a good night sleep!~~ Dreaming about the next day itinerary. Haha

~Day 3~

Yawnz.. Woke up earlier to catch a heavy breakfast as we are leaving Fremantle for Cruise at Mandurah and staying for the night at Busselton.

Quick Review:	Went down to the Cappuccino Strip for breakfast and stumbled upon Fremantle Bakehouse. Ordered Freo’s Finest Pancakes with strawberries and banana and Big Breakie. Love the Soft Fluffy Pancakes. Yum Yum.

Off we get out of Fremantle and make our way to Mandurah. We have booked a 1 Hr Dolphin & Scenic Canal Cruise at Mandurah. Made a light sandwich and packed some fruits for lunch.

Finally after about an hour drive, we reached Mandurah…..

Quick Review:	Lovely scenic Mandurah cruise. Love We managed to see dolphins but no chance to take a good shot of dolphin. But what I really like about the cruise is you get to see rows of luxury houses. haha Places I will never get to stay in haha. Awesome houses with great view.

Before going up the cruise, we had our light lunch and ice cream from Simmo’s Ice Creamery…..

Quick Review:	Delicious Creamy Ice Cream with many flavors to choose from. It is located on the boardwalk. I sat outside of the shop and enjoy the lovely scenery with gentle breeze.

After the cruise, we start our road trip to Busselton…..and check in for the night

Quick Review:	I only stay for 1 night. A bit wasted. Clean, spacious modern decor. There is also secured parking. There is outdoor and indoor swimming pool. Great for family holiday. It is also walking distance to the beach and good restaurant. If I am in the area again, I would love to be back here!

Quick Review:	Stilts was just beside the resort. We ordered a 300g MSA Sirloin steak (a black pepper crust, served with chips, garden salad and jus) and Pepperoni Pizza (Tomato Sauce, Pepperoni and Mozzarella). The sirloin is done just nice. We were so full that we can’t finish the pizza. We brought back the rest of the pizza and heat up for the next morning breakfast. The pizza still taste great the next morning.
